About last week - Turning up for yourself.

As you might know, the other week I was a guest facilitator at a Reboot camp hosted by Marnie Hay from Redback Fitness.

16 of us found our way to beautiful Noosa River to embark on a 5 day journey of self-celebration.

Some of us knew each other but plenty were meeting for the very first time. Now, some people are comfortable just rocking up and meeting new friends but for many, this is quite a daunting experience.

Thankfully Marnie is such a spunky ray of sunshine and makes everyone feel welcome by being her caring, cheeky self. Supported by Belinda Denison the 2 ladies organized a wonderful wellbeing event.

I booked in because I find Marnie to be an inspiration to witness. Her mindset and the way she shows up to life really gets my juices flowing! Plus, I needed a rest and a reset, so i saved my coins and I booked in.

In the past, Marnie and I have chatted about doing events together and this one I knew I had something to offer.

The intention for the Reboot Camp was to celebrate being alive and well and to return to our playful sides, to help not sweat the small stuff and build on the relationship with ourselves and push us out of your comfort zone. Just a teeny bit!

Marnie is a fitness instructor with a background in education as a PE teacher for many years. She was offering 2 group PT session, one yoga class and many fun activities. From boating adventures, non-motorized water activities and a 8.5km walk. She had all of that covered.

Belinda was offering Reiki and coaching as well as hosting her own Sustainable wellness habits workshops for the group together.

I was booked to support people with Reiki through the opening ceremony and to facilitate a Ecstatic dance - 80’s style. I had spent my weeks beforehand, visualising how I would show up for these peoples, to make sure they would feel safe and supported to turn up as goof bags and let their inhibitions out.

I totally forgot to consider how I was showing up for me!! I was distracted and as the events unfolded… I got my arse kicked! I hadn’t exercised for 6months and while I hold a base line strength, I pulled up so sore it was ridiculous. Barely being able to climb the stairs to my bed each day. I was having the worst sleep from the workout pain - I was in a funk and in all honestly, I was disappointed in myself.

I know in this last 18months I have done the most sitting I have ever done in my whole life. Doing so many courses and upskilling as well as writing a book and online course content creation. I had yes to lots of things, but exercise was not one of them.

I had totally forgot the power of moving my body and being proud of completing something physical. Even though the pain after each workout nearly killed me and I so desperately wanted to wag the next session, I persisted….. I showed up for the other Gayle. The one who wants to be fitter, lighter and live in a body that can keep up with the kids.

I didn’t just show up for my body, I showed up for my mindset and the ego part of me. The competitor me. The fighter. I am so glad I did. I now have a little mirror workout I can do at home and have linked it to activities I am already doing every day. I have reached out to a friend that dances to join her.

You just need to find the activity that makes you feel empowered and proud. Sometimes that happens by saying yes to adventure and something new.

Best of luck and thanks for reading.

Take Care Soulies.

Much love
Gayle
