Turning up for yourself.

Gayle - Soul Care Healing

We talk a lot about showing up for others, for our kids, our colleagues, our partners, our community. But what about showing up for you?

At Soul Care Healing, one of the most common things I hear from women is this:
“I’ve been everything to everyone… and now I don’t know where I went.”

If you’ve ever had that moment standing in front of the mirror, or staring at the ceiling at 2am wondering how you lost connection with yourself, this blog is for you.

Because turning up for yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s sacred.
And often, it’s the first step back toward emotional wellbeing.

Rebooting the Body, Reconnecting with the Self

Not long ago, I was invited to co-facilitate a local Reboot Camp, a weekend retreat hosted by the wonderful Marnie Hay from Redback Fitness. It was designed to get people moving, laughing, and rediscovering the power of play. And it delivered.

There were group workouts, connection circles, cold plunges, an absolutely fabulous ‘80s-style ecstatic dance session (which I led, leg warmers and all), and a whole lot of courageous, sweaty joy.

But here’s the truth: I wasn’t ready.
Not physically. Not really.

After months of writing my book (Where the Waves Break), building the Soul Care Method course, and sitting behind a screen, my body was… not having it. Sore muscles, aching joints, heavy fatigue it all hit me harder than expected.

That weekend, something clicked:
I’d been turning up for my business. For my clients. For my creative dreams.
But I hadn’t really been turning up for my body.
I hadn’t been turning up for me.

What “Turning Up for You” Really Means

So often, we mistake self-care for pampering, a massage, a bath, a cheeky wine on the couch.
And while those things are lovely (yes, even the wine), real self-care is deeper.

It’s how you speak to yourself when things go wrong.
It’s how you honour your boundaries when life gets loud.
It’s how you reconnect with your needs, not just your obligations.

Turning up for you might look like:

  • Saying no to something you would have said yes to out of guilt

  • Choosing rest even when your to-do list is yelling

  • Walking for 10 minutes because your body asked you to move

  • Sitting with your feelings rather than pushing them down

  • Reconnecting with that “spark” you’ve been too tired to chase

At Soul Care Healing, we believe that women, especially high-functioning women who carry the mental load of everything deserve more than band-aid solutions. They deserve practices and pathways that help them reconnect with their bodies, their intuition, and their calm.

The Soul Care Method: A Practice of Showing Up

The Soul Care Healing Method is my gentle, guided framework to help you shift out of survival mode and back into yourself.
It’s not about fixing. It’s not about striving.
It’s about creating emotional safety so you can soften, reconnect, and lead from wholeness.

When you turn up for yourself consistently, something magical happens:
You begin to trust yourself again.
You start making decisions from clarity, not chaos.
You build resilience that isn’t hard or brittle, but strong and flexible.

Inside the program, we explore:

  • Releasing old patterns that keep you stuck

  • Building real emotional resilience (not just pushing through)

  • Reclaiming self-trust, even when things feel messy

  • Tools like mindfulness, breathwork, somatic reflection, and journaling

There’s a self-paced version for those who want to go slow and steady on their own time… and a guided cohort experience for those who want live connection and deeper accountability.

However you choose to explore it, the foundation is this:
You matter. And your wellbeing matters more than your productivity.

A Personal Invitation to Come Home to Yourself

Have l stirred something in you, a memory, a pang of recognition, a quiet “me too”. I invite you to pause right now.

Take a deep breath.
Put your hand on your chest.
And ask gently: What do I need today?

Even if it’s small. Even if it feels silly. Listen.

Because every time you show up for yourself, even in the tiniest way you’re rewriting the story that says everyone else’s needs come first.

You’re saying: I matter too.

Take a quiet moment, pop in your headphones, and give it a listen.

And you do.

With warmth,

Gayle xx
